Hello everyone!
Over the past 2 weeks, our product team has been busy finalizing production for Yotei! We have seen the first prototype samples from the factory and are now waiting to receive them. The first batch of wooden items has already been manufactured and sent to the factory, while production of the second batch is currently underway.
At the same time, we are finalizing the artwork for the last few components, and everything should be ready to go to print very soon. The limited wooden boxes are also ready - we are just waiting for the final details from the last few backers regarding the names to be engraved so they can be completed.
All of this means that, starting now, we will begin sending out the pledge manager invitations so we can finalize ordered quantities and move forward with printing!
The Pledge Manager is live
We have teamed up with Backerkit to send out a simple pledge manager invitation so we can collect the information needed to fulfil your rewards and get your copies of Yotei to you!
The first “smoke test” invitations have already been sent out to 5% of backers, with the remaining invitations scheduled to begin rolling out tomorrow, Thursday the 21st onwards. Invitations are being sent directly to the email address linked to your Kickstarter account. If you do not receive yours by the end of this week, please make sure to check your spam folder. No worries if you still cannot find it - we will continue re-sending invitations regularly over the coming weeks until everyone has finalized their pledge manager.
Note: If you have used a secure Apple ID login while backing this project, you likely won't receive a pledge manager invitation - Apple ID logins create an encrypted email address, which is known to bounce back our invitation emails; in that case, just let us know about this by sending us a DM on Kickstarter, or contact us at [email protected] and we can revert your email and send you the invitation there.
The Backerkit mail includes a link that invites you to finalize your pledge, add extra copies and/or add-ons, upgrade your pledge and pay for shipping.
Important information for Batch 1 backers:
Your pledge manager needs to be completed by May 31st so we can finalize numbers and start production as soon as possible. This means you should finalize the number of ordered copies and any add-ons so we can lock your pledge order.
Don’t worry - if you need to update your address or settle your payment later on, you will still be able to do so, and we will inform you accordingly. For now, the important thing is locking down your final ordered quantities.
Regarding Batch 2 backers:
The pledge manager will remain open until the end of June to upgrade your pledge and add any additional items to your order.

Hello everyone!
4321 times thank you!! It's been an amazing 3 weeks, but don't worry, the end of the Kickstarter campaign does not mean that you won’t hear from us anymore!
As we move forward to bringing this experience to your tables, we will update you on development, manufacturing and shipping!
What's next?
Right now, you don't need to do anything. In the following 2 weeks, Kickstarter will collect all the funds and we will import all data into Backerkit - the pledge manager.
In about 14 days, you will receive a Backerkit survey link and be asked to complete your Backerkit survey. This survey will invite you to finalize your pledge, add extra copies, add-ons, and pay for shipping. We will post an update once these Backerkit invitations go out!
BATCH 1 backers: Before May 30th, you will have to complete that survey. Why so fast? Because we want to start printing Batch 1 of Yotei as soon as possible, which means we need to lock down the final ordered quantities to send to the factory.
BATCH 2 backers: You will have a little more time to complete your survey. You will be able to finalize your selection by June 12th, but we will also inform you when you need to lock down your final pledge order.
Don't worry - in case you need to update your address information, you can still do that later-on, close to the fulfillment date. For now, it's important we know your country and final order quantities to input the accurate shipping costs and prepare for production.

A new Surprise - Art Print Hokkaido Animals
Free Backer Gift Unlocked! This beautiful art print of the Animals of the Yotei area by artist Maria Kato will be added for free to your pledge!
One of the things that makes Yotei feel so special is how deeply it is inspired by real life in Hokkaido - from the landscapes to the animals and even the small seasonal signs locals pay attention to.
On this print you can find the Itou, also known as the Sakhalin Taimen, which is the largest freshwater fish in Japan and can only be found in Hokkaido. Another local symbol is the Ezo Shika, or Ezo deer, a native deer species unique to Hokkaido. One fascinating detail about them is that they shed their antlers every year! And then there’s one of the most charming signs of winter - the Yuki Mushi, or “snow bug.” These tiny white insects appear in autumn, usually one to two weeks before the first snowfall. Because of this, locals often use them as a natural sign that snow is about to arrive. Fittingly, they even look like tiny snowflakes floating through the air!
New Limited Add-on - Yotei Art Book!
Kumagera has created a gorgeous art book, where you can discover the world behind the game! 200 copies are available as an add-on during this campaign. Shipping will be calculated in the pledge manager.
"The book is very important to us because it's a bridge between our game and the actual community. People who read the book will get to peak in the actual Yotei area, get to know the people there. I hope people will feel the real charm of our home!" - Jin & Maria.
When part of the Mighty Boards team went to Japan, they sat down with illustrator Maria to talk about the world behind Yotei. Discover why they chose to live in Niseko, what makes the local community so special, and what exactly a mushroom lady is!
From everyday life in Hokkaido to the real people and places that inspired the game, this interview gives a deeper look into the charm and heart behind Yotei.
About the Wooden Characters and Potatoes
We have carefully considered your requests and had discussions with Kumagera about a potential add-on for both the wooden character tokens and the wooden potatoes.
Why didn't we include wooden character & potato tokens in the Deluxe Edition:
In our focus group testing, the initial wooden character tokens all being the same colour resulted in players often mistaking which one was theirs. Since this creates confusion during gameplay, we corrected this issue by creating different coloured cardboard standees. The wooden potato tokens also had some issues with removal from their wooden punchboard, due to their thickness. Going forward, we would like all versions of Yotei to avoid having these issues.
Why we can't offer these as potential add-ons:
These extra addons, unlike the other addons we are offering, are not part of Kumagera's 'regular' production schedule. Therefore their inclusion into this campaign would have created delays and complications to our already complex logistics and supply chain (due to the multiple batches we are planning). We do not want to make unplanned additions which might jeopardise the agreed Kumagera production, or which might result in disruptions to the fulfilment process.
It is important for us to offer a product that is clear and consistent in its looks as well as its level of quality. We consider the components which are already in the Deluxe edition of the game to offer the best experience possible for the players, whilst retaining the unique characteristic touch of Yotei with the incorporated wooden components. Most of all, we want to avoid disruptions to our promises to you, our backers. We hope you understand our position, which was made with the best interest of the game and its players in mind.

The Exclusive Wooden Box Edition will be delivered with Batch 1 ONLY if we receive the name you want printed on it by the 8th of May 2026.
